Wall Street Journal House of the Year - Belz Chateau - Big Sky, Montana Architecture Photographer
A couple weeks ago I was contacted by The Wall Street Journal to photograph the House of the Year. In the contest, readers vote on their favorite homes from among the winners of the year's previous House of the Week polls. Over 40,000 people voted for the house of the year and The Belz Chateau up in Moonlight Basin was crowned the winner. See article here. This house is grand, elegant, has incredible architecture, and amazing views.
The Belz family took 4 years to build this estate which includes ski access, grand bedrooms, 17 fireplaces, a full gym with sauna and steam shower, game room, theater, and wine and cigar rooms. Marty and Julie worked closely with Telluride-based Suzanne Dahl of architectural design firm Black Diamond Partners to help realize their vision. The spiral staircase is probably my favorite - it is a piece of art in itself!
I got to know the family a little bit during the day of shooting. Julie and Marty Belz are incredibly welcoming and charming. Wonderful family and incredible home!
