Bringing Light to a Montana Log Home: Photographing a Cozy, Modern Transformation

Photographing this remarkable home in Big Sky, Montana, presented a unique experience from start to finish. This project was featured in Mountain Living Magazine, highlighting its journey from a dark, dated interior to a bright, modern mountain retreat. In the midst of the pandemic, I had to approach this shoot a little differently, as remote collaboration was our only option.

While I was on location in Big Sky, we connected over FaceTime to make sure each shot captured Jolene’s vision. Working this way allowed me to bring their mood boards and design concepts to life, even across the miles. Through this unique process, we were able to capture the light, airy feel of the new space, emphasizing the fresh, open aesthetic that Jolene and the homeowner had carefully crafted.

The final images tell a story of creativity, connection, and transformation. Despite the challenges of distance and restrictions, it was a pleasure to document this home and see it featured in Mountain Living Magazine.
